Meet Gem Wheldon

I am a HCPC-registered physiotherapist with more than 23 years’ experience working within the NHS across acute hospital and community settings.

I qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2002 and have spent my career supporting people with a wide range of complex health needs.

For more than a decade, I have worked within community therapy, providing physiotherapy to people in their own homes and helping them maximise their mobility, independence and quality of life.

My specialist experience includes older adult rehabilitation, falls prevention, post-operative rehabilitation and postural management.

I founded Physiotherapy At Home to bring this experience into private practice, providing personalised, specialist physiotherapy without the need to travel to a clinic.

I continue to work within the NHS community therapy team alongside my private practice, allowing me to remain closely connected to the wider health and social care environment.

A little more about me

I also live with a stammer.

My own experiences have given me a particular appreciation of the importance of patience, listening and creating an environment where people feel comfortable communicating in their own way.

These values are central to the way I work with every patient.

I believe everyone deserves to feel listened to, respected and involved in decisions about their own care.
