Do I need a GP referral?No. You can contact us directly to discuss your needs and find out whether physiotherapy may be appropriate.
Do you visit care homes?Yes. Physiotherapy appointments can be provided within nursing and residential care settings, subject to location and availability.
Can a family member or carer be present?Absolutely. With the patient’s agreement, family members and carers are welcome to be involved in assessments and treatment.
What happens during my first appointment?Your first appointment includes a detailed assessment of your current situation, physical function, mobility and goals. We’ll then discuss our findings with you and agree an appropriate treatment plan.
What should I wear?Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely is usually best.
Depending on your condition and the area being assessed, you may be asked to wear clothing that allows appropriate access for assessment.
Can you help with walking aids or equipment?Where appropriate, we can assess your mobility and provide advice about suitable equipment or mobility aids.
We can also provide guidance about how equipment should be used safely.
Can you communicate with my GP or other healthcare professionals?Yes. With your consent, we can communicate with other professionals involved in your care where this would support your treatment.
How often will I need physiotherapy?This varies from person to person.
Following your initial assessment, we’ll discuss your individual needs and agree an appropriate treatment frequency. Your plan will be reviewed as you progress.
Do you provide reports?Yes. Clinical reports and correspondence can be provided where required.
Can you provide physiotherapy for neurological conditions?Yes. We provide specialist neurological physiotherapy for people living with conditions including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, head injury and functional neurological disorder.
Do you provide falls prevention?Yes. Falls prevention is an important part of our service and can include assessment of balance, strength, mobility, confidence and relevant factors within the home environment.
Is home physiotherapy suitable for me?If you’re unsure, we’re happy to discuss your situation during a complimentary 15-minute telephone consultation.
Can you help with postural management?Yes. We provide assessment, advice and practical guidance for people with complex postural and positioning needs, including support and training for family members and carers where appropriate.
